Self-Sharpening|
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

🔥 Now In Stock | XinGuo Diamond Sharpening Stones
High Diamond Content × Strong Self-Sharpening Action × Fast Metal Removal
#400 / #1200 / #4000 / #8000
After testing these newly arrived XinGuo diamond stones ourselves, the first impression was very straightforward:
They cut extremely fast, and the stone surface has excellent self-cleaning ability.
At the same time, they do not feel like the hard, aggressive scraping sensation typically associated with sintered or electroplated diamond plates.
XinGuo uses a cement-based cast matrix combined with resin and other bonding agents, allowing the stone to retain the aggressive cutting power of diamond abrasives while still providing a smooth and controllable sharpening feel.
They are designed especially for modern steels with high hardness and high wear resistance.
The difference becomes particularly noticeable on difficult-to-sharpen steels such as high-tungsten alloys, while conventional carbon steels and stainless steels are naturally no problem at all.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
✨ What Makes XinGuo Diamond Stones Different?
✔ High Diamond Content|Diamond abrasive content of approximately 38% for fast and consistent metal removal
✔ Excellent Self-Sharpening Action|Fresh sharp abrasive particles are continuously exposed during use
✔ Strong Self-Cleaning Ability|The surface is less prone to loading, glazing, and slipping from accumulated swarf
✔ Special Cast Construction|Cement-based matrix combined with resin and other binders for a balance of cutting speed and sharpening feedback
✔ Suitable for High-Hardness Steels|Effective even on highly wear-resistant tool steels and powder metallurgy steels
✔ #400 to #8000 Range|Covers repair, edge setting, refinement, and final finishing
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
💎 Why Can a Diamond Stone Cut So Fast?
XinGuo diamond stones use approximately 38% high-content diamond abrasive together with a specialized bonding system.
Diamond itself has extremely high hardness, allowing it to maintain aggressive cutting performance even when sharpening very hard and wear-resistant steels.
But the performance of a sharpening stone depends on more than simply how hard its abrasive is.
Self-sharpening ability, self-cleaning performance, and surface renewability are equally important.
Compared with more rigid sintered or metal-bonded diamond products, this type of bonding system produces a softer and smoother contact feel during sharpening.
In practical use, the result is a combination of:
“The cutting efficiency of diamond abrasives × A sharpening feedback closer to that of a natural stone.”
It is not simply about speed.
The feel, feedback, and controllability during sharpening are also some of the most interesting characteristics of this series.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
⚡ Self-Sharpening | Keeping Fresh Diamond Abrasives at Work
All abrasive particles gradually become worn with continued use.
With XinGuo diamond stones, the bonding material wears at a controlled rate during sharpening.
As older abrasive particles become dull, they are gradually released, allowing fresh and sharp diamond particles inside the stone to become exposed.
This is known as:
Self-Sharpening Action
Because the working surface continuously renews itself during use, the stone is less likely to suffer a rapid drop in cutting performance caused by dull abrasives or accumulated swarf.
This was also one of the most noticeable points during our own testing:
The surface cleans itself very quickly and does not become dark, glazed, and slippery after only a short period of sharpening.
For anyone who sharpens continuously for long periods, this makes the process significantly more comfortable.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🔪 Not Just for Traditional Steels | The Harder the Steel, the More Noticeable the Difference
Standard carbon steels and stainless steels are naturally easy for these stones to handle.
But the advantages of diamond abrasives become much more noticeable if you frequently work with:
・High-hardness stainless steels
・Highly wear-resistant tool steels
・Modern powder metallurgy steels
・High-tungsten alloy steels
・Other difficult-to-sharpen steels
Certain steels containing alloying elements such as tungsten (W), vanadium (V), and cobalt (Co) can exhibit very high wear resistance.
When sharpened on conventional stones, they can require considerably more time.
Some extremely wear-resistant die and tool steels can even show very low metal-removal rates on certain traditional whetstones, making it difficult to establish an edge efficiently.
This is where the aggressive cutting ability of XinGuo diamond stones becomes particularly noticeable.
For professional sharpeners or enthusiasts who own many high-hardness, wear-resistant knives, they can save a considerable amount of sharpening time.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
