Yamawaki Hamono Sakai Hokushin by Yoshikazu Ikeda White Steel No.1 Mizuhonyaki Sakimaru Takobiki 300mm
Yoshikazu Ikeda began forging knives in 1967 as an apprentice under his father, Kameo Ikeda, the second-generation blacksmith of Ikeda Tanrenjo. Yoshikazu’s brother, Tatsuo Ikeda, succeeded their father as the third-generation blacksmith.
In 1983, Yoshikazu established his own forge, "Ikeda Tanrenjo." His dedication to the craft has allowed him to refine his skills over decades, earning numerous accolades. Sakai Hokushin is one of the premium knife lines produced by Ikeda Tanrenjo.
"In 1967, I began crafting knives under the guidance of my father and founded Ikeda Tanrenjo in 1983. Since then, I have focused on preserving the art of Sakai forged knives, specializing in professional-grade Japanese knives such as Mizuhonyaki and Suminagashi knives. I was honored to be recognized as a Traditional Craftsman in 1988 and currently serve as the president of the Sakai Forged Knives Traditional Craftsmen Association."
