This Deba knife is meticulously crafted in Sakai, Japan, a region renowned for its exceptional knife-making tradition. Traditionally, whitewood handles are widely used for these knives, but they tend to darken over time and require replacement. To address the challenges faced by overseas users who may find handle replacement difficult, master craftsman Junzetsu Momose collaborated with lacquerware artisans to develop a lacquered handle, combining beauty and long-lasting durability.
The handle features traditional Japanese Kiso lacquer craftsmanship in an elegant black lacquer finish. This design not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also provides water resistance, durability, and antibacterial properties. The octagonal shape tapers slightly toward the blade, offering a comfortable and stable grip, ensuring precision and ease during cutting tasks.
