Shigeki Tanaka is a fourth-generation blacksmith from Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. His family originally specialized in crafting sickles and farming tools with over a century of tradition.
To hone his skills, Tanaka trained for three years at Shimizu Hamono in Fukui before officially joining the family business, Tanaka Kazuyuki Hamono, in 1999.
