Ikeda Forging Works
Mr. Yoshikazu Ikeda began forging in 1967 under the guidance of his father, the second-generation blacksmith Kameo Ikeda. While his elder brother Tatsuo Ikeda took over the family business, Yoshikazu founded Ikeda Forging Works in 1983 and has since devoted his life to the production of high-grade traditional Japanese knives.

🗣 Craftsman’s Words

“I began forging in 1967 and established Ikeda Forging Works in 1983.
Since then, I’ve focused on preserving and evolving Sakai’s forging tradition, especially in crafting high-grade Honyaki and Mizuhonyaki blades.
In 1988, I was officially certified as a Traditional Craftsman and have also served as chairman of the Sakai Forged Blades Traditional Craftsmen Association.”

📌 Note: Mr. Ikeda has since retired and stepped down from his chairman position.
