🔨 About the Blacksmith|Yoshikazu Ikeda
Ikeda Tanrenjo – A Workshop of Tradition and Innovation
Yoshikazu Ikeda began forging in 1967 under the guidance of his father, the 2nd-generation smith Kameo Ikeda. While his elder brother Tatsuo Ikeda continued the family workshop, Yoshikazu established his own forge, Ikeda Tanrenjo, in 1983.

His signature brand “Sakai Hokushin” is known for producing high-difficulty works such as honyaki, mizuhonyaki, and suminigashi blades. These are treasured by collectors and professionals alike.

🗣 Quote from the Craftsman
"I began forging knives in 1967 and established Ikeda Tanrenjo in 1983. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to preserving and evolving the traditional techniques of Sakai. I specialize in crafting high-grade honyaki and mizuhonyaki knives.
In 1988, I was officially recognized as a Traditional Craftsman and have served as Chairman of the Sakai Traditional Bladesmith Association to help promote Japanese artisan culture."

📌 Note: Mr. Ikeda has since stepped back from the frontline and retired from his chairmanship.
