雖因「廢刀令」不再鍛造武士刀,但工藝精神完整傳承至廚刀。

  • Founded: Hirosaki, Aomori — with over 350 years of tradition

  • History: Commissioned by the Tsugaru clan in the Edo period; today recognized as an official Traditional Japanese Craft workshop

  • Lineage of craftsmen:
     ・Nigara Hiroshi (title: Kuninobu): renowned swordsmith, designated Intangible Cultural Property of Aomori Prefecture
     ・7th generation: Yoshizawa Toshihisa
     ・Current 8th generation: Yoshizawa Tsuyoshi

  • Distinction: Though katana forging ceased after the Haitōrei decree, the spirit and techniques of the samurai sword live on in every Nigara kitchen knife.
