🏯 About Nigara Hamono
Founded in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, Nigara Hamono carries a history of over 350 years.
Originating as a swordsmith commissioned by the Tsugaru clan during the Edo period,
the workshop is officially recognized as a Designated Traditional Craft Studio of Japan.

Lineage of Master Smiths:
・Nigara Hiroshi (Kunitsugu) — famed swordsmith, recognized as a Preserver of Aomori’s Intangible Cultural Property
・7th Generation: Yoshizawa Toshihisa

🔨 Tradition Meets Science
Nigara Hiroshi studied at Tohoku University’s Institute of Metal Research under metallurgist Dr. Kotaro Honda,
integrating modern metallurgy with ancient forging wisdom — laying the foundation of the modern Nigara blade.
Although the Haitōrei Edict ended the samurai sword era,
the spirit of the katana — its precision, soul, and dignity — continues to live within every Nigara kitchen knife.
